It's been a long time since I posted an SVR Newsletter... so high time to post one, I guess. I am in Sun Prairie Wisconsin... enjoying the Lord, living, being a Grandmother... and working... and praying to know my next steps on what our Lord wants me to do, to best serve Him. Much has happened... too much to tell. And much is in the works.... MISSIONS - For ministry, I continue to serve Ghanaians, Ghanaian ministries, and American ministries as best I can from my home office. We are hosting a good number of ministry websites for free through Ladysword Net Services (www.ladysword.net/support). In addition, SVR has a project to help Ghanaians called Fund-AFrica.com (www.fund-africa.com). And with that, we have opened an office in Ghana to serve and help the Ghanaian people. Pastor Thomas Okyere and Evangelist Paul Doe have been a super help in getting this off the ground. Also, Koffi Selasi Ackom has been the main worker and also really done most of the work in getting Fund-Africa set up and into action. This has been a labor of love - and finances - but even the employees benefit from the training and job experience. We pay our workers for an 8 hour day, the first hour of which is to be spent before the office is open for business. During this hour, the worker is encouraged to have a Quiet time - to pray and read their Bible. Dear friends: The main service that has been used so far for Fund-Africa - is the Purchasing Assistance program. Recipients of the service can pay us to make an online purchase for him or her by phone or on the Internet. They pay for the purchase plus a $15 service fee. There has been alot of interest in this program - which is much needed in Ghana. As they can not buy products online or from other countries due to the lack of Bank Cards and such. Other services include a money transfer service. We are working to make this official and to make the website work more efficiently. We also offer a program called "Assistance to African Ministries". This allows approved ministries to use our services at a reduced rate, and sometimes for free. In future, we want to expand to connect the Jesus Cares Network project to Fund-Africa. African ministries can apply to be in our assistance group. We would then give them some web exposure so that churches and individuals can connect to be a support and encouragement to the African ministry. It is just getting off the ground, but is a true ministry... as the operating costs far exceed the service fees that come in. Therefore, SVR continues to provide the service and the office at our expense. I also spend 1-3 hours a day managing things from Wisconsin, USA. Emails, instructions, form design, carrying out transactions, management, coaching, payroll, accounting, training... these are some of the many activities I am involved with in keeping the office going. SVR GHANA - We are planning on building SVR Ghana at Logba Tota, on the mountains of the Volta Region. I feel the Lord said 2011 would be the year that would take off. We plan on a Christian Resort Lodge, built on the mountain land given us by Chief Takyi. It overlooks a vast valley. This will be run similar to the way a Christian Conference Center is run here in the States. Please pray into this vision with me that we would hear clearly from the Lord. FUNDING - Most of the funding for SVR comes from me. I am growing in this area. (Being a bit transparent now). In general, I do not enjoy asking for donations to the ministry, and have been under much attack from the enemy who tells me that no one wants to donate, as they don't believe the ministry is a valid charity. To this day I struggle with this issue. Yet, so much more could be done if there was a proper balance in this area. For my mind struggles to tell myself - "No, you are doing the work of the Lord, you ARE helping others..... you are a valid charity... It is for the sake of the Lord's work - you are not gaining anything from it, Sandi... so know the truth and walk in it!" So please, I ask you to pray for me to grow and mature in this area. WRITINGS - I occasionally post articles on our website: www.SVRmin.net. I will include some snippets from the most recent articles at the end of this email. WORK - I am currently working 2 contract positions as a computer programmer - one is full time, one is part time. For a season this is good to help pay the bills! But my heart yearns to do the Lord's work! However, keeping the Fund-Africa office running in Ghana has been a financial commitment for me, and thus I need to make money to keep it open. However, I am constantly praying into the situation of the work that I should do... as I know His plans for me may not be my the same as my plans for me. APPRECIATE YOUR HELP, SUGGESTIONS, ETC... - As you read this, what questions come to mind? What important info am I leaving out of this newsletter that maybe should be added? Would love to hear any feedback from the readers. I thank you all for being on this newslist, and feel free, if desired, to unsubscribe below. SVR Ministries is still alive and kicking! Once a year, I renew my Norton Internet Security subscription. I have found I have to have it to protect my computers. Why? well, case in point - a few weeks ago, my computer had a Trojan Worm attack, and in the fray of panic, I accidentally clicked the DO NOT REMOVE button when asked by my Norton program.
That cost me about 10 hours of my time - or more - just trying to re-format and reinstall all my programs, and somehow recover valuable files and photos on that PC. Lesson #1: We need protection from our enemies. * PowerWords for Our Lives Today This morning I had a nice Quiet Time with the Lord. The Word of the Lord is truly ALIVE - and as I read the below scriptures, something inside of me gets all excited with wonder and awe.... like wow... this is sooooo cool!!!! Others need to read this... So today, I come online to share the ones that seemed so effervescent to me today: 1. 2 Timothy 2:4 "No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him." The one who enlisted us is The Lord. Let's get entangled in His affairs, and not those of our civilian life.
